Recently, BJP members have refrained from discussing the divisive UCC topic. It is thought that they have been told to remain silent until after the 2024 elections.

In a speech to party members in the close-to-election state of Madhya Pradesh in June of this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi generated controversy by making his first public call for a Uniform Civil Code (UCC). It sparked contentious discussions about the UCC in the media.

It is apparent that BJP representatives have recently refrained from discussing the divisive subject. It is thought that they have been told to remain silent until after the 2024 election. The BJP is concerned that the Opposition will attempt to capitalize on its stance on UCC among the substantial tribal population. According to the party, if a UCC Bill is ever contemplated, tribals should be kept out of its scope at first.

Himalayan excursion

Rahul Gandhi set off on a brief motorcycle journey to the Himalayan Leh as the important Assembly elections were approaching. Gandhi will honor his father at Pangong Lake on his birthday, according to his party’s spin doctors. It was called a “hybrid version” of the Bharat Jodo Yatra when the tour was extended by an additional four days to include Nubra and Kargil.

Billboard regret

PWD engineers were recently disciplined by the Delhi High Court for felling trees for street landscaping, and contempt notices were filed against them. The PWD was required to apologize publicly and plant hundreds of replacement trees. The PWD has erected sizable billboards with the words “Maafinama Delhi High Court” and “Apology for past Errors: Pledging to do Better” to demonstrate that it is appropriately contrite. Not only do the billboards obscure the tiny, recently planted seedlings, but they also clog the pavement. The legendary lyrics by poet Ogden Nash, “I think that I will never see/ A billboard lovely as a tree,” are obviously unread by PWD engineers. Indeed, I’ll never see a tree at all unless the billboards come down.

Tiger Travelers

In Goa politics, Pramod Sawant and Vishwajit Rane have long-standing rivalry. The advantage belongs to Chief Minister Sawant, an experienced BJP member with the support of the RSS, but Rane, a former Congressman, recently forged a tight bond with Amit Shah while overseeing the Karnataka Assembly districts that border Goa. But for the first time, both men are on the same team. They all disagree with the Bombay High Court’s Goa bench’s directive that the Mhadei forest reserve be declared a tiger sanctuary within three months. North Goa is home to the nearby seats of the Goa chief minister and the minister of forests, and Rane protests against development if the area is designated a tiger sanctuary.
