According to the India Meteorological Department, the city’s highest temperature would be around 35°C, while the overnight low is predicted to be around 27°C. The national capital will have mostly gloomy skies with a chance of more downpours. Rainfall also caused waterlogging on certain city roadways, particularly those in the Badarpur district. According to news agency ANI, the Yamuna river in the nation’s capital now has water levels below danger. The river has a 204.5 meter danger level.

In the meantime, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed on Friday that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) blocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “victory chariot” in Delhi, which is why he wants to “destroy the party”. Speaking at the Delhi Assembly, the AAP convenor again revived the party’s call for statehood for Delhi, which had been a central theme of its manifesto for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He declared the AAP will challenge the BJP on the issue of “full statehood” and voiced confidence in the BJP’s poor chances in the upcoming elections.

In other headlines, Gurgaon Police reported Friday that a 22-year-old lady was allegedly strangled to death by her family, who later burned her body, for marrying a guy outside of their caste. The woman’s brother and parents have been put under custody. Anjali, a BSc student, and her husband Sandeep, according to the police, resided in a residential community in Sector 102 and are from Surheti in Jhajjar. Anjali was reported missing from their flat, which they shared with her brother Kunal and his wife, by Sandeep, according to ACP (Crime) Varun Dahiya. Sandeep told the police on Thursday that he had wed Anjali, a native of his village, on December 19, 2022. He had been residing in the city with her ever since the wedding.
