During the Buchi Babu competition, Suryakumar Yadav was mobbed while fielding as supporters entered the field mid-match to take photographs.
Suryakumar Yadav is currently in action in the Buchi Babu tournament to prepare for a return to the Indian Test team
In an attempt to get ready for the upcoming domestic red-ball season, which starts on September 5 with the Duleep Trophy, and potentially for a comeback to the Indian Test team, Suryakumar Yadav played for the Mumbai Cricket Association against TNCA XI in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament in Coimbatore. On Tuesday, the first day of the competition, supporters surrounded the Indian player and nearly forced their way inside the stadium in the midst of the first innings played by the home team.
Prior to tail-ender Ajith Ram S joining the list on Day 2, the TNCA XI batsmen enjoyed a field day in the first innings of the game on Tuesday, with three of them reaching their half-century scores. On Wednesday, the hosts easily exceeded 350 runs, even with Himanshu Singh taking five wickets and Tanush Kotian and Shams Mulani both taking two.
Fans flocked to the Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science ground in Coimbatore on Tuesday to watch India T20I captain Suryakumar in action during the first innings of the match. Additionally, fans nearly entered the field to take pictures while he was fielding close to the boundary ropes, despite the India batter’s warnings against it. Later on, though, as ground security was having trouble controlling the crowd, he complied with requests for photos and autographs. In fact, a group of schoolchildren in attendance ran into the ground toward the conclusion of the day’s events in order to acquire autographs from Suryakumar.
Ready for the return of the India Test, Suryakumar Yadav
In February 2023, Suryakumar made his debut for India in a Test match at home in Nagpur during the Border-Gavaskar series against Australia. He has only made one more appearance in the format. After failing to be picked up for the World Test Championship final later that summer and the West Indies tour, he was no longer considered a middle-order option with the rise of Dhruv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan.
The selectors have given him another chance to plan a comeback to the Indian team, though, as they have picked him for the forthcoming Duleep Trophy competition. When Ajit Agarkar and his selection committee are choosing the 15-man team for the Bangladesh Test series that starts next month, the red-ball event will be a major factor.
It’s a little difficult to use this format. You need to always be thinking ahead. In a T20I contest, you cannot bat like you would. However, intent is also crucial, and this extends to your body language on the ground. The practice sessions are when the cognitive portion of the task has to be completed. It is not possible to overthink before a game. Practice sessions and your actions leading up to the game are under your control. Remain modest even if you succeed. Before competing in the Buchi Babu event, Surya told Indian Express, “If you don’t do well, go back to the basics and draw board, start and come back again.”
