One of India’s top universities is the University of Delhi, also known as Delhi University (DU). It is a public central university in New Delhi that was founded in 1922. The following are some salient features of the University of Delhi.

Departments and Faculties

DU has 86 academic departments and 16 faculties that together provide a broad range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate programmes. The institution is well-known for its courses in the social sciences, humanities, arts, and sciences.

Colleges

St. Stephen’s College, Hindu College, Miranda House, and other renowned establishments are among the 91 connected colleges affiliated with DU that are dispersed throughout the city. Numerous undergraduate and graduate courses are available at these colleges.

Research & Innovation: With a large number of research institutes and centres devoted to a range of academic subjects, DU is also a hub for research and innovation.

North and South Campuses

North Campus and South Campus are the university’s two main campuses. South Campus was built later to accommodate the increasing number of students, while North Campus is home to some of the oldest departments and colleges.

Libraries and Resources

DU is home to a number of libraries that offer a wealth of academic resources to teachers and students. These libraries include the Central Library as well as libraries dedicated to particular colleges and departments.

Events and Festivals: Throughout the year, the university organises a number of academic and cultural events, such as “Crossroads” at SRCC and “Mecca” at Hindu College.

Sports: Students at DU actively participate in a variety of sports, and the university offers strong sports facilities. The school has produced a number of well-known athletes.

Entrance tests: Merit-based admission to the majority of undergraduate courses is decided by the scores attained on the qualifying tests. However, entrance tests are held for some courses, such as the DUET for postgraduate studies and the DU JAT for management courses.
