Ajith has been a member of the Tamil Nadu Premier League team for some time, but his pace and line are still outdated. Playing second fiddle to Kishore on a day when eighteen wickets fell at the SNR College grounds in Coimbatore, Ajith collected six wickets in both innings.

Currently, it is a difficult moment to be a left-arm spinner in Tamil Nadu. There are always at least three contenders for a place, with skipper R Sai Kishore occupying the top spot. A year ago, when S Ajith Ram made his debut at the SNR College grounds, there was some confusion because another left-arm spinner, M Siddarth, was also in the mix. Although his start was unimpressive, Ajith has since bowled in three matches and has taken two five-wicket hauls. On Sunday, he almost took another one as his 4/40 helped Tamil Nadu defeat Railways by an innings and 129 runs, keeping them in the running for knockout qualifying.

Playing second fiddle to Kishore on a day when eighteen wickets fell at the SNR College grounds in Coimbatore, Ajith collected six wickets in both innings. But after his strong performances in the previous season and in the Buchi Babu competition, where he picked 9/72 against Chhattisgarh, he once again shown why he is bankable in the red-ball format.

Ajith has been a member of the Tamil Nadu Premier League team for some time, but his pace and line are still outdated. Ajith’s greatest asset, despite being shorter than his skipper, has been his constancy in line and length, which is amply supported by his fluctuations in pace.
