It will be crucial for India to retain Rahul Dravid as coach prior to the T20 World Cup: Khan Zaheer. Prior to the T20 World Cup 2024, which will be held in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA), former fast bowler Zaheer Khan stated that Rahul Dravid’s continuation as the head coach will be essential for the Indian team.
After India’s 2023 World Cup loss to Australia under Pat Cummins at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Dravid’s time as head coach came to an end.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) then granted Dravid a further extension subsequent to Ashish Nehra’s report that he declined the offer in the most brief manner.
Zaheer stated that keeping “continuity” with the coach will be essential for the Men in Blue because captains and vice-captains are often substituted based on the needs of the match.
“We’ve discussed a great deal of captains and vice-captains. It will be crucial to have that continuity format because there is a lot of cricket going on as well. You need stability, and the only way to have it with so many moving parts is to have something constant, according to a quote from Zaheer.
“Whoever becomes the coach needs to be constant and should maintain that continuity for a while so that all the processes are followed and communicated in that regard. You form a nice setup with regard to the higher management in BCCI, to the selectors, NCA, India team and captains across formats,” he added.
The Indian squad is currently in South Africa, where they will play two Tests, as many ODIs, and a three-match T20I series.
The first Twenty20 International match is scheduled for Sunday, December 10 at Kingsmead in Durban.
