Use of this formerly paid ChatGPT service is now free. In the demo video, OpenAI makes fun of Sam Altman’s departure. OpenAI has released a new version of ChatGPT in the midst of everything that has been going on since Sam Altman was unexpectedly ousted as CEO.

OpenAI’s popularity stems from a viral AI tool that is giving away a previously purchased functionality. In addition, the OpenAI team made light of everything that has transpired since Altman’s departure in the demo video as they announced the functionality.

With ChatGPT, all features are free.

Using voice chat to communicate with ChatGPT is the functionality that we have been discussing. Before, only those who have paid to use ChatGPT could access this.

All users can now access it for free, though. Interestingly, audio conversation is restricted to ChatGPT mobile app subscribers exclusively. Not everyone has access to voice chat on the web version yet.

Simply open the ChatGPT mobile app and look for the headphone icon next to the prompt box on the right to activate the feature. The first time you click on this icon, a pop-up window explaining the Chat with voice feature will appear.

Click on “choose a voice” now and pick from the list of options. By doing this, you will be able to adjust the audio that ChatGPT plays for you. After that, you can use your voice to communicate with ChatGPT.

The OpenAI team makes fun of the demo clip.

OpenAI shared a demo video on X to introduce the feature. In the video, the team is heard jokingly referring to everything that has transpired at the company since Altman’s abrupt departure when they say that it has been “a long night” for them. The demo video then shows the number of employees at OpenAI, which is 778.

Following Altman’s departure, Greg Brockman, who resigned from his position, shared the video on X and stated, “ChatGPT Voice rolled out for all free users.” Try it out; it completely transforms the ChatGPT experience.”

OpenAI vs. Sam Altman

The OpenAI board abruptly fired Sam Altman, and the company has been in flux ever since. According to recent reports, more than 95% of the company’s workers have threatened to resign if Altman isn’t reinstated by the board.

Satya Nadella, on the other hand, also revealed that Altman and the other dismissed OpenAI staff members will be joining Microsoft to head a new AI-focused team.

Ilya Sutskever, the chief scientist and cofounder of OpenAI, also played a significant part in Altman’s departure. He tweeted, “I deeply regret my participation in the board’s actions,” expressing his “deep regret” for his part in the decision.

I never meant to cause harm to OpenAI. I adore everything we’ve created together, and I’ll stop at nothing to bring the business back together.”

In the meantime, OpenAI published a blog post announcing Sam Altman’s departure. The board has lost faith in Altman’s ability to run the business, according to the blog post, since he has been “inconsistent in his communications with the board, hindering its ability to exercise its responsibilities.”
