With its headquarters located in New Delhi, Eicher Motors Ltd is an Indian multinational automobile that produces motorbikes and commercial vehicles. Royal Enfield, a firm that makes middleweight motorcycles, is owned by Eicher.
India’s Eicher Motors is a producer of commercial vehicles. The Goodearth Corporation was founded in 1948 with the purpose of distributing and maintaining foreign tractors. Along with the German tractor manufacturer Eicher, the Eicher Tractor Corporation of India Private Ltd was founded in 1959. Eicher has been entirely owned by Local shareholders in India since 1965. Since 1970, when they purchased 30% of the German Eicher tractor, Massey Ferguson owned a portion of it. In 1973, Massey Ferguson acquired the German business.
In 2005, Chennai-based TAFE Tractors (Tractors and Farm Equipment Ltd), the country’s licenced manufacturer of Massey Ferguson tractors, purchased the tractor and engine section of Eicher Motors Ltd. [Needs citation]

A collaboration agreement for the production of light commercial vehicles (LCVs) was signed in Tokyo in October 1982. At the same time, Eicher Motors Limited was formed. The “Eicher Mitsubishi” brand was used to market LCVs. At the end of 1993, Eicher Goodearth had acquired a 60% equity investment in Royal Enfield India after purchasing a 26% stake in Enfield India Ltd.
In July 2008, Eicher Motors Limited (EML) and Volvo Group created VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), a 50/50 joint venture that develops, produces, and sells commercial vehicles as well as technical components and engineering design services.

Now, Eicher Motors owns 54.4% of VECV, with Volvo Group owning the remaining 45.6%. For 100 crore, VECV acquired the operations of Volvo Buses India in 2020.

With the launch of the Eicher Polaris Multix in 2015, Eicher Motors and Polaris Industries of the United States established a joint venture in 2012 called Eicher Polaris to produce personal utility vehicles. In 2018, this joint venture company went out of business.
