Pieter Friedrich, a freelance journalist and an activist, originally from California, USA, has gone on a hunger strike from the last 5 days demanding Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter to take back the donation to Sewa International.
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has donated $2.5 million to Sewa International in the month of May, to fight the pandemic in India. Sewa International is an organization that is directly affiliated to RSS which is the paramilitary group in India and its political arm is the ruling party in India BJP. RSS-BJP has been accused of being “racist and anti-Muslim”.
Madhukar Deoras, the third chief of the RSS, founded Sewa Bharati in 1989 as a service — or welfare — wing of the paramilitary. Sewa International was subsequently launched, “to engage the Indian Diaspora (NRI) worldwide” as mentioned on the website of sewa International.

Pieter has been writing blogs/ mails wherein he has stated: “Where we send our money matters. As it has been said, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Mr. Dorsey meant well by giving millions to a group that claims to be working to provide relief for a nation that is currently being ravaged by COVID-19, but he didn’t do his due diligence to verify the credentials of the organization to which he gave.
Thus, Twitter has put itself in the position of providing massive financing to an organization that is linked to the ruling party of India, linked to a prime minister who is accused of causing the current COVID crisis, linked to a violent Hindu nationalist paramilitary, and linked to groups that are implicated in the murder of minorities in India.”
He has started a campaign: “Take it back Jack” demanding the CEO to take back the donation made to Sewa International.
Pieter says, “The struggle against authoritarianism, totalitarianism, and fascism is long and exhausting and crucial to the survival of our human race. It will fail without unwavering dedication, relentless and obsessive devotion to love, and sacrifice.”
Jack Dorsey’s donation to Sewa International to fight the pandemic crisis is wrong according to Friedrich because the PM who belongs to BJP has mishandled the crisis resulting in a large number of positive cases and deaths. And ‘yet, when choosing a charity to assist in India’s struggle against the pandemic, Jack picked one that’s tied up with the very person who created the crisis’ says Pieter
