After much anticipation, Jitesh Sharma, the wicketkeeper, played his first international match outside of the Asian Games on Friday, December 1st, in Raipur, India, during the fourth Twenty20 International match against Australia.

Jitesh, who has been performing well for Vidarbha, lit up the IPL stage in 2022. He launched a successful campaign early this year as payback. When he made his Asian Games debut for India in the men’s cricket competition, his efforts were acknowledged.

“Most people would expect them to come take a few balls and get set if they’re in that situation, especially if they’ve lost significant wickets.

However, when he saw Chris Green bowling, he had the courage and willingness to go and play those shots, put him under pressure, and completely change the momentum of the game. We all know, I believe, that he has always been talented.

Though his mentality while batting today was very impressive, Nayar continued, “He has always had potential.

At the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Australia’s captain Matthew Wade won the toss and elected to bat first. With openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad batting brilliantly, India raced to 50 in the first six overs.

Before pacer Aaron Hardie extracted extra bounce with a cross-seam short delivery outside off, Jaiswal hit six fours and a six in his 28-ball 37. This caused the Indian batsman to tug towards Ben McDermott, who was racing in from mid-on.

India lost two wickets in quick succession when Shreyas Iyer (8) and Suryakumar Yadav (1) fell to Tanveer Sangha and Ben Dwarshuis, respectively. Ruturaj Gaikwad attempted to go big over extra cover but edged it to short third man. He hit three fours and a six in 32 balls before being caught by Dwarshuis off Sangha.
