Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, expressed sympathy for those who perished in the cloudburst recorded in Jadon village in the Kandaghat subdivision of the Solan district.

According to police, a cloudburst that hit the Jadon hamlet in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan district resulted in seven fatalities and three people still missing.

There is a rescue effort under place. According to news agency ANI, two homes and one cowshed were also destroyed by the flood.

The seven victims who died in the cloudburst tragedy were mourned by Himachal Pradesh’s chief minister, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. In a tweet, he added, “We have instructed the authorities to ensure that all available assistance and support is provided to the afflicted families at this tough period.

55 hours of nonstop rain have caused devastation throughout the state. In Mandi, Sirmaur, Shimla, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, and Solan there are numerous residences under risk due to flooding, landslides, and fallen trees.

Over 800 routes in the state are closed, including the national highways Paonta-Shilai, Chandigarh-Manali, Shimla-Dharamshala, and Kalka-Shimla. This has had a significant impact on over 2,000 bus routes. Many communities lack access to water and power.

For the upcoming three to four hours, the Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rainfall signal. It has issued a warning about potential events like cloudburst for the catchment areas of the Beas, Pong Dam, Ranjit Sagar, and Sutlej rivers. Nine districts are under flood warnings until tomorrow.

Late on Sunday night, CM Sukhu convened a virtual meeting with each district commissioner. He then proclaimed today a holiday for all colleges and schools. Exams for the PG and B.Ed. programs have also been postponed.
