According to an ISRO official who spoke to PTI, the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft left its orbit of the earth after Tuesday’s trans-lunar injection (TLI) and is now travelling towards the Moon’s vicinity.

In other words, the spacecraft left the Earth’s orbit on Tuesday after the TLI manoeuvre, which put it on a “lunar transfer trajectory,” and started its trek towards the Moon. On August 23, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) had announced that it would try a soft landing of the lander on the moon’s surface.

Prior to this, the orbit of the spacecraft was gradually boosted by five times following the July 14 launch of the Chandrayaan-3 mission to the Moon.
