Suryakumar wears Samson’s Jersey on the pitch in Barbados instead of his customary ‘Large’ size T-shirt.
Suryakumar Yadav played in the first One-Day International against the West Indies in Barbados on Thursday wearing Sanju Samson’s jersey due to a problem with the T-shirt size and the delay in the delivery of a replacement.
Yadav told the team management about the size issue with his shirt on the night before the game. Even though he was able to use it for a picture session, he had asked for a different jersey size.
The matchday jersey that was supplied to Yadav was really a “medium” size rather than a “large.”
Because Samson wasn’t participating in the game, Mumbai’s batter Yadav asked Samson to turn over his jersey. Ishan Kishan was chosen by the Indian team over Samson for the first ODI, which India won by a margin of five wickets.
Since it is against the rules for athletes to tape the names on the back of their jerseys, Yadav was forced to wear the T-shirt with Samson’s name on it.
It has been learned that Yadav won’t receive his new jersey till after the second ODI on Saturday.
His jersey had a slight sizing issue. Two days prior to the game, we were informed of it. The BCCI has mailed his new jersey along with the Indian team members chosen for the T20 series, so he will get it after the second ODI. He will play while sporting his teammate’s shirt till then, according to a BCCI source.
According to information, a few other gamers encountered troubles with their sizes and will shortly receive replacements. A handful of the players had t-shirt sizing concerns even during the just finished Duleep Trophy in Bengaluru, and they borrowed shirts from their teammates.
From this season on, Adidas will be the Indian team’s new uniform sponsor, while Dream 11 recently earned the rights to be the Indian team’s major sponsor.
