Leandro Requena of Argentina, who plays goal for his country, is on track to set a Guinness
World Record with his amazing goal during the Chilean Primera Division.
Goalkeeper Leandro Requena of Argentina’s CD Cobresal scored a remarkable goal from
101 metres after making an audacious attempt to start a counterattack. Earlier this month,
during CD Cobresal’s game against Colo-Colo in the Chilean Primera Division, the Argentine
goalie scored an absurd long-range goal. Requena, who scored his team’s third goal from a
goal kick, is on track to record a Guinness World Record for the farthest goal ever scored in
the history of the game.
Although his team already had a comfortable 2-0 lead over Colo-Colo in the 77th minute,
Requena took a simple goal kick. The Argentine super-goal stopper’s kick enabled him to
score, shocking the entire football community. Brayan Cortes, the Colo-Colo keeper, who
was positioned beyond his penalty area, was outwitted by Requena’s stunning goal kick. The ball took a nasty bounce over the goalkeeper’s head, leaving him perplexed, and the
Colo-Colo goalkeeper was unable to contain his embarrassment.
The incredible goal was scored from an estimated distance of 101 metres, according to TNT
Sports Chile. Requena will break the global record for the longest pitch goal in football
history if the strike is officially sanctioned by Guinness World Records.
Requena told Radio Bio Bio: “I questioned Juan Silva, the club’s manager, as to whether the
request for the record application was actually going to be made, and he replied, “Of course definitely.” We are still awaiting the necessary information to confirm the actual distance.
Silva did mention to me that the ANFP (Chilean Football Federation) called him to verify the
field’s dimensions, he said.
It should be mentioned that a professional football pitch should be 105 metres by 68 metres in size, per FIFA, the world’s regulatory organisation of association football. If so, Requena continued, “If the area is five metres, it would logically be over 100.”It has been learned, according to numerous accounts, that Requena’s miracle strike’s Guinness World Records application has not yet been submitted. Tom King, the current world record holder, scored the goal against Cheltenham Town in England’s fourth division while standing 96.01 metres away.
