“We have written to the DGP of Gujarat Police seeking an FIR to be filed against Mansukh Vasava for attempting to create communal discord and trying to vitiate the atmosphere against the Muslim community in the state,” Mujahid Nafees, the convenor of MCC, said.
“Being a parliamentarian, the BJP leader should be looking at uniting communities. But here he is trying to create a rift. It looks like a preparation for the upcoming local polls in the state,” Nafees added. In his letter, dated December 3, Vasava not only urged the CM to bring in a law to check alleged cases of “love jihad” But also asked him to look into issue of ‘sale and purchase’ of tribal girls in Gujarat.
Media persons today raised this issue in the press conference of Gujarat BJP chief CR Patil who was on a visit to Vadodara. Patil said he was in favor of action against forceful conversion of girl and party and the State government should think about it. When pointed out that his view was in contradiction with the State Chief Minister, Patil said, their views could be different. It’s worth noting that when asked about the requirement of a law against ‘Love Jihad’, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani didn’t look quite sympathetic to this idea and said, ‘when time comes, we will see’.
BJP advocated a separate law to check ‘love jihad’ cases in Gujarat, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Saturday said the state government would “see when the time comes” about the need for framing such legislation.Party’s MLA from Dabhoi assembly constituency Shailesh Mehta alias Sotta and Bharuch MP Mansukh Vasava have recently written to the CM seeking laws to check “enticement of Hindu girls” by “a certain minority community”.
“The issue (of ‘love jihad’) is being discussed in various states, so it is natural for such discussions to occur here. When the time comes, we will see,” Rupani said. He was speaking on the sidelines of a Kisan Sammelan at Karamsad in Anand district organised as a part of the BJP’s campaign to create awareness about the three contentious farm laws.
