The George Institute for Global Health India and the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) conducted a study that provides insight into the consumption of sodium, potassium, phosphorus, and protein. These nutrients are important in the development of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), which include hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and chronic kidney disease (CKD), which are rapidly becoming more prevalent health issues in the nation.

The study, which was published in the journal Frontiers in Nutrition, involved 400 participants, including healthy adults and people with early-stage chronic renal disease. The researchers measured nutrient consumption using 24-hour urine excretion analysis. Furthermore, the outcomes were alarming.
