In her speech, Chahar urged the journalists not to “put down” a young athlete at the TNSJA (Tamil Nadu Sports Journalists’ Association) Annual Awards & Scholarships.
“I find it very different when I see media journalists rooting for athletes… I ask that the media help athletes. Young athletes shouldn’t be discouraged from competing, according to Chahar.
Chahar debuted in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the 2016 season. Since then, he has played in 73 games and claimed 72 wickets.
The 31-year-old made significant strides with the new ball for the Chennai-based team in the 2023 IPL, taking 13 wickets in 10 matches. Chahar has performed consistently for CSK over the last five years.
The first IPL 2024 matchup between CSK and Royal Challengers Bangalore will take place at Chepauk on March 22.
