James Anderson of England became the first seamer to reach 700 wickets in a Test match. At the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) stadium on Day 3 of the fifth Test match, Anderson achieved the feat by dismissing Kuldeep Yadav.

The 41-year-old trails only Muttiah Muralitharan (800) and Shane Warne (708).

At an average of 26.52, Anderson has completed 187 Tests to reach the milestone.

“I think the greatness came when he honed his skills in 2010, when people said he could only take wickets in England when it was swinging,” said Alastair Cook, Anderson’s former captain and teammate, in a TNT interview.

“He always made you feel awful as a bowler. I remember fielding at mid-off and watching him shout at himself when he bowled one bad ball in a brilliant spell,” fellow fast bowler Steven Finn said.

It was his meticulousness and constant check that he was mentally prepared to deliver. He’s still got his speed, zip, and bite, and he even posts naked pictures of himself on Instagram.

The seamer from England has claimed 266 wickets abroad and 434 wickets domestically. Australia is Anderson e’s most successful country outside of England, having given him 117 wickets in the Ashes, 68 of which have come in that country.

At Lord’s in 2003, Anderson made his debut against Zimbabwe. He got Mark Vermuelen as his first Test wicket.

Anderson has been the cornerstone of England’s offensive since making his debut.

In addition, Anderson claimed 19 wickets in 18 T20 internationals and played 194 One-Day Internationals for England between 2002 and 2015, taking 269 wickets.
