Snow everywhere: Drone footage reveals India’s lovely winter landscape. Inclement weather in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday turned famed skiing resort Gulmarg in Kashmir into a winter wonderland, as captured by drone footage of the city buried in deep snow.
For the last four days, Gulmarg’s minimum temperature has been several degrees below freezing. On Sunday, it dropped to – 7 degrees Celsius, which is one degree higher than usual.
At the ski resort, however, the highest temperature recorded was minus 1.6 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees below average.
Drone film captured the stunning scene of Gulmarg coated in snow, with whitened trees. In actuality, the entire city is now covered in white, with scarcely a single area remaining free of snowfall.
Gulmarg experiences a significant influx of tourists each year because to its breathtaking scenery and abundant snowfall. Skiing enthusiasts from Australia, New Zealand, and Japan are flocking to Gulmarg.
“In my experience, Gulmarg has the best snow slope of any place I’ve ever been. I have visited Canada, New Zealand, and Japan. In Russia, I went skiing off course. Furthermore, nothing matches Gulmarg. Nothing,” an Australian visitor from Sydney stated.
Sunday’s snowfall in the Kashmir Valley disrupted daily activities, resulting in the cancellation of all flights at the Srinagar airport.
Following a landslide in Jammu’s Ramban district, traffic on the vital 270-kilometer Jammu-Srinagar national highway was suspended for about four hours, according to officials. IndiGo announced in a statement that six of its flights had been canceled.
On Sunday, there was modest precipitation on the plains but heavy snowfall in the Valley’s upper reaches. In Kashmir’s steep regions, authorities have issued avalanche warnings for Monday and asked locals to stay indoors for the next twenty-four hours.
