China friendlies are postponed by Al Nassr due to Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury.
Due to an injury sustained by the forward, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr has canceled their two-game China tour. This news was announced by the Saudi club on Tuesday, raising questions about the Portuguese player’s availability for their next matchup against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami.
The matches between Al-Nassr and Shanghai Shenhua on January 24 and Zhejiang four days later have been postponed.
Al-Nassr released a statement saying, “We are willing to complete our training camp as planned in Shenzhen, a city that has warmly welcomed us and shown so much love for us and our Captain.”
“In addition, we have decided to set up a new match as soon as possible with the organizer.”
The 38-year-old Ronaldo acknowledged he was having trouble staying healthy and apologized to his supporters.
“I have been a player for 22 years, and I don’t get hurt very often. Al-Nassr and I have traveled to China to enjoy the tour, so I’m pretty upset about that,” Ronaldo remarked.
“We intend to push for the game and return here; we have not canceled the game.” I regret to say that I have some issues, but this is a fact of life and football for me.
Beginning this week, local media said that Ronaldo was not present at Al-Nassr’s training, as he was in Dubai last week to accept three accolades at the Globe Soccer Awards.
Al-Nassr will play Messi and his Inter Miami team in a friendly event in Riyadh on February 1st, following their now-postponed China visit.
Neymar’s Al-Hilal, the current Saudi Pro League leaders, will also be played by the two clubs.
